Terms of use
Last updated October 21, 2026 · Beta version
Study aid only; not a substitute for a CFI, the POH/AFM, or current regulations. Alpha to Zulu helps you practice for the oral portion of your checkride. It doesn’t replace flight or ground instruction, can’t promise any checkride result, and isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by the FAA.
These terms are an agreement between you and Alpha to Zulu (“we”, “us”) for using the Alpha to Zulu app, including the web beta, and this website (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
1. Who can use Alpha to Zulu
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- If you’re under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian, and they should review these terms with you.
- You’re responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since that’s how you sign in. Tell us right away at support@flyalphatozulu.com if you think someone else is using your account.
2. A study aid, not instruction or authority
- Alpha to Zulu is for practice and review. It is not flight instruction, ground instruction, or an endorsement of any kind, and it does not replace your CFI.
- Always follow your current POH/AFM for your aircraft, current regulations (14 CFR), the AIM and your instructor. If anything in the app differs from those, they win.
- Regulations and FAA publications change. We work to keep content current and to cite sources, but we can’t guarantee every item is complete, current or error-free. Check the cited source before relying on anything for flight.
- Never use the app for real-time flight decisions, preflight planning or in-flight reference.
- We can’t promise you’ll pass your checkride or any test. Your CFI decides when you’re ready, and the examiner decides the result.
- Alpha to Zulu is not affiliated with, approved by or endorsed by the Federal Aviation Administration.
3. AI feedback
- Some feedback in the app is written by AI (Claude, made by Anthropic). It’s always labeled as AI.
- AI feedback compares your answer with reviewed Points to Hit. It can be wrong, incomplete or miss nuance. Treat it as practice, not as an official evaluation.
- Don’t put personal information (yours or anyone else’s) in your answers.
- We may limit how often AI feedback can be used each day.
More detail is in the privacy policy under AI use and teen users.
4. The beta
- The Service is in beta. Features may change, break or be removed, and the app may be unavailable at times.
- Beta testers get Pro features free during the beta. That access ends when the beta ends, unless we tell you otherwise.
- We may reset beta accounts or progress, for example when the app moves to its launch servers. We’ll try to tell testers first.
- Please tell us what works and what doesn’t. That’s the point of the beta.
5. Plans and payments
The beta is free. When the app launches, it will offer a free plan and paid plans. Paid plans will be sold through the App Store or Google Play and will be subject to their payment and refund terms. We’ll update these terms with the details before paid plans go on sale.
6. Using the Service fairly
Please don’t:
- copy, scrape, download in bulk, resell or republish our questions, answers, scenarios or other content;
- use the content to build a competing product or to train AI models;
- try to get around daily limits, access other users’ data, or interfere with or probe the Service’s security;
- use the AI feedback feature for anything other than answering the scenario (for example, trying to make it produce unrelated or harmful content);
- share your account with others; or
- use the Service in a way that breaks the law or harms others.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
7. What you send us
- You keep ownership of the answers, reports and feedback you send (“your content”).
- You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to store and use your content to run the Service, to grade your answers, and to improve the app and its content (for example, fixing a card someone reported). We won’t publish your content in a way that identifies you.
- Ideas and suggestions you send can be used by us freely, without owing you anything.
8. Our content
The Service, including its questions, answers, scenarios, Points to Hit, explanations, design, software, the name Alpha to Zulu and the A2Z logo, belongs to us and is protected by copyright and other laws. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the Service for your own study. FAA publications we cite are works of the US government; our questions and explanations are our own original work.
9. Ending your account
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we stop offering the Service. If we shut down the Service, we’ll try to give you notice.
10. No warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
11. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on the Service’s content, including outcomes of any test, checkride or flight. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
12. Responsibility for misuse
If you misuse the Service or break these terms and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows.
13. Changes to these terms
We’ll update these terms as the app grows, for example before the App Store and Google Play launch. We’ll change the date at the top, and if a change is significant we’ll tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.
14. Other terms
If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
